Introducing a case where I was responsible for the renewal design of an external inspection robot for the stay cables of a cable-stayed bridge!

The "Korokoro Checker" is a robot that travels along the cables of a cable-stayed bridge, capturing and recording images of the outer circumference in 360° for exterior inspection. Arc was responsible for the renewal design of the current machine. While ensuring the inspection performance of the existing machine, we proposed solutions to challenges and achieved a balance that made development costs feasible, leading to manufacturing. We conducted wireless communication surveys and high-temperature and low-temperature evaluations, and upon design changes, we revised the instruction manual and confirmed compatibility with the app before delivery. [Proposals for Problem Solving] - We proposed improvements to enhance reliability, such as preventing damage to the brake mechanism and encoder mechanical parts. - We implemented design improvements to shorten the attachment and detachment time. - We redesigned wiring arrangements and circuit boards, taking into account reliability improvements. - To enable replacement of consumable parts, mechanical and electrical designers collaborated on enhancements. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
